Tune-Ups in Edmonton

Running rough, down on power, or drinking fuel? A proper tune-up — plugs, coils, filters and a real look at what the engine's doing — brings it back.

'Tune-up' means something different than it did on an old carbureted engine, but the idea is the same: replace the ignition and fuel wear parts and get the engine running the way it should. On a modern vehicle that's spark plugs at their proper interval, ignition coils if they're breaking down, air and fuel filters, and a scan to make sure nothing else is quietly dragging performance down.

In Edmonton, ignition parts live a hard life — cold starts stress plugs and coils, and a weak one usually shows up first on a -30 morning as rough running or a misfire. If your engine shakes at idle, hesitates when you accelerate, or the check engine light flickers under load, worn plugs or a failing coil are common culprits.

We don't sell tune-ups by the calendar. We check what your engine actually needs against the manufacturer's schedule, tell you what's due and what isn't, and do the work that restores the power and fuel economy you've lost — not a padded list of parts you didn't need.

Frequently asked questions

How often does a modern engine need a tune-up?

Mostly it comes down to the spark plug interval, which ranges from around 50,000 km on some turbo engines to 150,000 km or more on engines with long-life plugs. We go by your manual and by what a scan and inspection actually show, not by a fixed shop schedule.

Will a tune-up fix my rough idle or misfire?

Often, when the cause is worn plugs or a failing coil — two of the most common reasons. But a misfire can also come from a vacuum leak, an injector, or a mechanical problem, so we diagnose first and only replace what's actually causing it. We're not going to throw parts at it and hope.

My check engine light is on — is that a tune-up?

Maybe. A misfire code often points at plugs or coils, but the light can mean a lot of things. We read the code, test the cause, and tell you honestly whether a tune-up fixes it or whether it's something else.
