A zinc and phosphorus (ZDDP) anti-wear additive that protects the camshaft and valvetrain during break-in of a new or rebuilt engine running conventional motor oil, while letting the piston rings seat. It is compatible with all motor oils and can also be used in conventional or synthetic oil during regular operation. One 473 mL bottle treats up to 12 US quarts (about 11.4 L) of oil.

Treat rate

"16oz bottle treats up to 12 quarts of motor oil--in many cases, one bottle can serve two engines or oil changes" (label: "TREATS UP TO 12 QUARTS"). Red Line's dosage table gives the ZDDP increase for a full bottle (16 oz), a half bottle (8 oz) and a quarter bottle (4 oz) across sump capacities, e.g. half bottle (8oz) in 5 quarts = 915 ppm phosphorus / 1104 ppm zinc; quarter bottle (4oz) in 5 quarts = 458 ppm / 552 ppm.
